After months of hard work and brainstorming, EDUCATE LAGOS, yesterday, April 28th 2017, joined the long list of the outstanding achievements of the government of His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos Sate.

What is Educate Lagos?

Educate Lagos platform is a free digital library, knowledge repository and learning management system. On a weekly basis, the textbooks and reading materials on the E-Library portal are been updated. That way, you are guaranteed that at every visit. you are guaranteed of current information.

Educate Lagos is a laudable E-Library which provides learning resources for students (and teachers) from primary 1 to SS3. No doubt, technology is certainly changing the art of learning on a nanosecond basis. This initiative will certainly help teachers, students and seekers of knowledge to fully participate in the new trend of internet-based learning systems. Thus, the Lagos State government is certainly acting in the right direction.

What are the features?

To benefit from EDUCATE LAGOS, you have to visit the site @ The site is very easy to navigate, even by those who are not too good with the internet. The main menu shows tabs for home, library, explore, jobs, market place, and contact. Beneath the menu bar are image tabs for primary School (primary 1-6), Secondary School (SS 1-3), tertiary, tutorials, entrepreneurship, vocational, our history and culture and an address by His Excellency, Governor Ambode.

A scroll downwards show various areas of knowledge you can explore. This includes vocations like cinematography, cooking and baking, farming, fashion design, make up/beauty, photography, bead making and much more. Thesis, research, customer service, digital media, maps, journals, comic, games, news bulletin, sales and marketing, business writing, encyclopedia, leadership, podcasts, and so much more, are other areas of knowledge you would want to explore. This is certainly one of the largest e-libraries and knowledge banks in the world 🙂 Kudos to Kotivu, a leading Learning Management System provider for providing the framework for the platform.

Further down the site, is a call to Publishers and also to Teachers and Educators to “take advantage of our fully equipped authoring solutions to create course curriculum, outlines and improve their students’ learning experiences.”

I have navigated through the site. It is a fantastic idea by the Lagos State Government. Teachers, students, seekers of knowledge and those who find themselves bored, will certainly find the site extremely useful. The fact that it is free to use is another plus. Taking a massive library into a piece of device, which you can access anywhere and anytime, makes it more impressive and highly commendable.

If  you ask me, I think this is what good governance is all about, especially as it concerns EDUCATION.

Congratulations. The site and whole idea is a fantastic innovation by the Lagos State Government. I hope students in particular, will surmount the problem of the high cost of textbooks by using this site. This is better than using hard earned money to browse sites that do not add value to one’s life. Kudos to the Lagos State Government.
