Hii. I have done quite a number of posts on the “awesome power of God.” But I don’t know why I keep having the urge to dwell on an event recorded in Exodus 14, which I have been referring to as “My Comforter.” I call the chapter My Comforter because that is exactly what it does each time I read or reflected on it – it comforts and strengthens me.

I have a feeling that there is someone out there who really needs to be comforted. So I said I won’t sleep until this post hits my blog….

Exodus chapter 14 is a story of “hopelessness turned into testimony.” To me, I am yet to find another hopeless situation that is worse than what we have in that chapter.

Imagine the scene – a mighty red sea in front and thousands of war-ready Egyptians behind, with the unarmed Isrealites in the middle. I guess the Isrealites would have started preparing for their death or capture for “when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.” (Verse 10)

In the midst of this obviously hopeless situation, it really sounded “stupid” when Moses “said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” (Verse 13)

I don’t know what I would have said or done in that situation. I would have been really provoked if I had heard the Lord say “unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward” (verse 15). Go forward? To where? Into the sea !!!?

But, on God’s instruction, “…Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.” (Verse 21-22). Woww !!!

And so, in an obviously hopeless situation, “….the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.” (Verse 30-31)

Many a time, people have found themselves in this kind of situation, where all hope seems lost. Consolation, assurances and even preaching, all seem not to give hope at all. If you ask me, I have been there several times. What happened? God, in His awesome magnanimity always showed His face when it seemed it was impossible for help to come.

One fact about tough times and seemingly hopeless situations is that they always seem as if they are insurmountable. Praying becomes very hard. Faith is seriously under trial and we tend to doubt God, even though He had helped out at similar, if not worse situations, in the past. Or even when we read or hear powerful testimonies.

So, are you undergoing a tough situation(s), and it seemed all hope is lost. To you, it is obvious nothing can be done. Did the Doctors make a terrible pronouncement? Has life become so unbearable? Is it related to your job? Does it have to do with your business, place of residence, family or relationship?

God has, sooo many times, proved Himself to me and those who seek and depend on Him, even when it seemed ALL HOPE WAS LOST ! I guess He just wanted to prove a point – that He is God, and shall ever be. We just have to TRUST HIM and build our faith based on His awesome antecedents. He is caring, loving, supportive, blesses freely, graceful, merciful and AWESOMELY AND FEARFULLY POWERFUL !

So, my friend, I hope I have comforted you? 🙂

I would love to read your testimonies here 🙂

God bless you 🙂

He will make a way for me….”
